I saw delphiniums for the first time with my dearest friend Rosie. It was the first time we'd been together in a long while — we'd just enjoyed a delicious lunch at a little restaurant set in the grounds of a garden. The sun was shining, we were content and happy to finally be together again, and then we saw them. Huge, tall spires of flowers in every shade of blue and lilac, the softest pinks and mauves filling the borders and catching our imaginations — captivating! I couldn't wait to get home to my paints to capture that lovely afternoon forever.
